Replace the lumbar distraction actuator

TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE ACTUATOR:

  1. Use a 7/16 inch wrench to remove the four hex head bolts that secure the large leg cushion to the frame. Remove the four hex bolts that secure the pelvic tilt cushion.

2. Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws securing a narrow strip of plastic near the adjustable flex restraints.

3. You may also choose to remove the screws that hold the outer skirt to the main frame. Let it rest on the base.

4. Use a hex wrench to remove two shoulder bolts so that the distraction frame can be slid back, away from the actuator. The actuator remains bolted to the frame.

5. Slide the large spring and rivet from the post in the middle of the square tube.

6. Use a wrench to secure the actuator rod while grasping the painted bracket with a rag and pliers. Unthread the post from the actuator.

7. Spray silicon into the hole at the end of the actuator. The threads at the opening do not need lubricant. It is for the moving parts further inside.

Reverse steps to reassemble.
