Add Corded Pedal to a Rocker

INS- 173 ADDING A CORDED PEDAL TO A TABLE

WITH ONLY ONE ROCKER FOOT PEDAL OR ROCKER HAND SWITCH

Parts List:

Corded foot pedal w/connectors – 1

Pigtail Jumper

black w/connectors – 1

red w/connectors – 1

white w/connectors – 1

Cord restraint – 1

  1. Elevate the table to its highest point.
  2. Unplug the table.
  3. NOTCH THE SKIRT- Note the size of the notch in the skirt where the power cord exits the base.
    • Remove the screws holding the inside skirt to the base and locate the second hole in the base strip which is approximately 5 inches from the power cord.
    • Mark the skirt with a pencil for a notch at the second location similar to the notch for the power cord.
    • Use diagonal cutters or a hack saw to cut from the bottom edge along the two lines. Tip – After you make the parallel cuts, use a utility knife to score the top of the tab and than bend it back & forth with pliers until it breaks off. Raise the inside skirt and keep it suspended out of your way either by taping or clamping it to the half of the skirt still connected to the top.
  4. CONNECT THE PEDAL – Insert the cord from the new pedal through the second hole in the metal strip of the base.
    • The green lead can be attached to the base with the other green ground wire by using the existing ground screw to secure both wires.
    • BLACK – On the base, separate the existing crimp connectors and plug the black pigtail on the new pedal to each of those connectors.

WHITE & RED – plug the WHITE on the capacitor next to the white of the original switch. Plug the RED from the switch onto the capacitor next to the original red.

  1. Plug the table in and test to make sure both styles of pedal work. Don’t adjust the height much since the skirt is not attached properly.
  2. Install the black cord restraint into the hole in the metal strip using a pair of pliers. Use the power cord as an example.
  3. Secure loose wires to the inside of the base with wire ties.
  4. Replace the skirting.
