Adding a Corded Pedal to a Table with One Corded Foot Pedal
ADDING A CORDED PEDAL TO A TABLE WITH ONE CORDED FOOT PEDAL
Parts List: Same end of Adj or AirFlex (include 24v)
Corded foot pedal w/connectors – 1
Pigtail jumpers, w/connectors – 1
Wire ties, 6″ push-in – 3
Cord restraint – 1
- Elevate the table to its highest point.
2. Unplug the table.
3. Note the size of the notch in the skirt where a cord exits the base.
-
- Remove the screws holding the inside skirt to the base and locate the hole in the metal base strip at the same end of the base as the existing pedal.
- Mark the skirt with a pencil for a notch at the second location similar to the notch for the power cord.
- Use diagonal cutters or a hack saw to cut from the bottom edge along the two lines. Tip – After you make the parallel cuts, use a utility knife to score the top of the tab and then bend it back & forth with pliers until it breaks off.
4. Raise the inside skirt and keep it suspended out of your way either by taping or clamping it to the half of the skirt still connected to the top.
5. Insert the new pedal cord through the hole in the metal strip of the base.
6. Disconnect each color from the original pedal. These push-together terminals are located just inside the base enclosure where the cord entered. Each color pigtail splits the colors connected to the original pedal. Now both pedal can be connected to the two wires of the pigtail.
7. Plug the table in and test to make sure both pedals work. Don’t adjust the height too much since the skirt is not attached properly.
8. Secure the new pedal cord in the hole of the steel base with a black cord restraint. Use pliers to squeeze the restraint tight enough for insertion. Use the restraint on the power cord as an example of what it looks like when properly installed.
9. Secure loose wires to the inside of the base with wire ties. Six-inch wire ties require a
3/16″ hole.
10. Replace the skirting.
