Replacing a Rocker at Head End with a Corded Pedal
PARTS
corded pedal with connectors attached
T plugs (same color as the base) Heyco cord restraint
TO GAIN ACCESS
- Use the foot pedal to elevate the table.
- Unplug the table.
- Rem ove the 6 screws securing the plastic enclosure to the base and hold the enclosure up. String or tape may be used to hold it.
REMOVE THE ORIGINAL ROCKER ASSEMBLY:
- Remove the flat plastic cover on top of the base which covers the rocker pedal assembly.
- Loosen the hex bolt that locates the two extension springs on the collar. Slide the collar on the 1/2″ shaft to verify that it is loose.
- Loosen the set screw that secures the collar with hose to the same shaft.
- There are two set screws that secure each pedal to the end of the shaft. Loosen them on one pedal and remove it.
- Grasp the other pedal and pull the shaft completely out of the base. You will need to slide the collar with springs and the collar with hose off the shaft as you remove it.
- Remove the toggle switch from the hole in the base cross member by removing the nut around the stem of the switch. The nut is accessed from the outside of the base. 10. Do not pull wires from the capacitor yet. Pull the wires from the terminals of the switch and remove it completely. The new pedal can exit the base through this hole if it is enlarged to 19/32″. See Step 11 for another routing option.
- The new pedal can exit the base through the unused hole in the metal strip that the power cord passes through. You will need to cut a notch in the bottom of the skirt plastic at that location so the cord does not prevent the skirt from resting on the base again.
INSTALL THE CORDED FOOT PEDAL:
- Insert the pedal cord through the 19/32″ hole.
- Pull the white rocker switch wire from the capacitor and push on the white from the corded pedal. Replace the red on the capacitor also.
- Connect the black wire from the pedal to the black wire that the rocker was connected to.
- Place the cord restraint around the pedal cord outside the base cross member where it will insert. Squeeze the restraint very tightly around the cord with pliers and push it into the hole. This will protect your cord from being pulled or cut.
- Plug the table in and test the pedal function before replacing the plastic enclosure. 17. Glue the painted plugs over the hole on each side of the base where the original pedal exited.
