Adding a Corded Pedal to a Table with One Corded Foot Pedal

ADDING A CORDED PEDAL TO A TABLE WITH ONE CORDED FOOT PEDAL

Parts List: Include drawing – WIRE-6 Opposite end of Chiro or AirFlex (include 24V) Corded foot pedal w/connectors – 1

Pigtail jumpers – red, white, black all w/connectors – 3 total

Wire ties – 4 Cord restraint – 1

Wire tie w/mount barb- 2 Additional length of cord w/connectors on one end – 5 ft

  1. Elevate the table to its highest point.
  2. Unplug the table.
  3. NOTCH THE SKIRT- Note the size of the notch in the skirt where the power cord exits the base.
    • Remove the screws holding the inside skirt to the base and locate the the hole in the metal base strip which is at the opposite end of the base from the power cord.
    • Mark the skirt with a pencil for a notch at the second location similar to the notch for the power cord.
    • Use diagonal cutters or a hack saw to cut from the bottom edge along the two lines. Tip – After you make the parallel cuts, use a utility knife to score the top of the tab and than bend it back & forth with pliers until it breaks off.
  4. Raise the inside skirt and keep it suspended out of your way either by taping or clamping it to the half of the skirt still connected to the top.
  5. CONNECT THE PEDAL – Put the black cord restraint at the end of the pedal cord insulation and insert the cord through the hole in the metal strip of the base and secure it in the hole with the black cord restraint. Use pliers to squeeze the restraint tight enough for insertion. Use the power cord restraint as an example.
  6. ADDITIONAL LENGTH OF CORD- Plug the male terminals of each colored lead into the matching lead from the new pedal. Secure the cord to the inside of base tube and towards the bottom edge to avoid damage from moving parts. It will run from the capacitor, along the length of the base, and end where the new pedal enters. Extra length is provided so the end will need to be cut, stripped, and connectors added.
    • Connect the RED wire next to the original red on the capacitor. Connect the WHITE next to the original white.
    • The GREEN lead can be attached to the base with the other green ground wire by using the existing ground screw to secure both wires.
    • DEPEND ON YOUR BASE

On the base remove separate the existing BLACK wire at its crimp connectors and plug the black pigtail on the new pedal to each of those connectors.

Remove black from the fuse, connect the black jumper to fuse, and insert orig wire from fuse, and black from new pedal.

7. Plug the table in and test to make sure both styles of pedal work. Don’t adjust the height much since the skirt is not attached properly.

8. Secure loose wires to the inside of the base with wire ties. Drill 3/16″ hole where the mount barb for each wire tie is to be inserted.

9. Replace the skirting.
