Rebuild Compressor

8. Remove two phillips head screws that hold the Piston Head Plate to the Piston. This Plate will come off with the Piston Support when you grasp and lift it from the compressor. Take note of the shims under the Piston Support. The shims must come off with and remain on the Piston Support.

CLEAN

9. Use a a Scotch-briteTM pad to clean all parts that are going to be used again. In addition to the Piston Head Plate there may also be corrosion inside on the Piston Support w here the Piston moves up and down. A screw driver may be necessary to scrape off built-up corrosion under the Compressor Head before using the Scotch-briteTM pad to finish it. It is important that everything be clean of corrosion before putting the parts back together.

REASSEMBLE

10. Locate the Piston Support including the shims on top of the compressor again. Put the Piston Head Plate into the new Piston Plate Cup with the countersink holes facing up and insert the Plate onto the top of the piston. Align the holes in the Piston Head Plate with those in the Piston and secure the Plate with the philip’s head screws.

Put the new orange Cylinder O-ring into the recess on the Piston Head Support.

Turn the Compressor Head so the inside is faceup. Locate the head gasket on the

Valve Plate or the Compressor Head so the middle strip and the hole align with the divider in the head at the end of the strip. Put the Plate onto the Gasket with the side of the plate that has the flat metal valve shifted to one side oriented on the Outside of the Compressor Head identified by the hose fitting.

Compressor Head Valve Plate

13. Grasp the head and main plate together to locate them on top of the compressor.

14. Align the bolt holes. Insert the three head bolts and turn them by hand to get them started use the 7/16″ socket to tighten the bolts to 30in pounds. It will leak if too loose or too tight.

15. Replace the brass breather.

16. Insert the 1/4″ hose into the fitting on the compressor. It is a quick connect fitting so just push firmly It is recommended to trim the end of the air hose to remove any distorted section so the fitting has a better chance of sealing on it when reinserted.

17. Reattach the skirting to the main frame of the table.
